Brothers and Sisters,
This is a follow up on the new attendance policy. Our attorneys have informed us that the UPRR has filed a motion to dismiss. The attorneys will be filing a motion for a preliminary injunction, and everything is proceeding as expected.
I am still waiting for some operational questions to be answered, but here are the ones that I have received clarification on:
Individuals that exceed the 28-point threshold in a 90-day period will not automatically be placed in IP status. There is a panel consisting of CMS, Timekeeping and Regional management that will review all cases before charging an employee. Managers will no longer be able to accept documentation for absences ahead of an investigation. All documentation must be presented at an investigation (Relevant documentation will be imperative).
Layoffs will continue to drop off your record as they do now under the rolling calendar.
There is no longer an option for a 30-day review period if you are charged with a violation of the attendance policy.
Weekend layoffs have been defined as 06:00 hours on Friday until 18:00 hours on Sunday.
Extending your layoff will NOT count as one layoff under the attendance policy. They will count every day that you layoff.
Refusing a call does not mean that you will be charged with a violation of rule 1.13 and or 1.6. That will be determined by the panel on a case by case basis.
There is a total of 16 holiday/peak days that have already been determined by management (FAQ #10). Any additions will be added in updates to the policy.
Everyone will start with zero (0) points on the day of implementation.
This attendance policy becomes effective on 03/01/20. If you have not done so yet, please become familiar with it. Use the links below to access the policy and the corresponding FAQ. I will continue to update everyone as I receive information. Thank you for your time and attention in this matter.
Fraternally,
Ken Walker
