Rules regarding taking a temporary vacancy (hold down). The criteria and examples are as below:

* If an Engineer lays off in LV WK status that turn is available for an immediate hold down.

* If an Engineer lays off in LV 1D, PL, LS, LP, LK, TV or OA status, that turn is NOT available for a hold down until the fourth (4th) calendar day. (Day one is the day they vacate).

* You must be in OK status to take a hold down.

* You must displace the JUNIOR Engineer in town on a hold down. Failure to bump the correct junior Engineer will result in removal and automatic placement to the correct turn. (Tucson Engineer Seniority Roster number is 281101).

NOTE: There is an exemption in place for all our locals so that an immediate hold down may be taken provided the owner is showing TV or LVWK.

All this information will be found by using the CMTS system, not UPonline. If you are unsure about a hold down, please call a member of the Local Committee of Adjustment (LCA), PRIOR to taking the hold down.

Anyone taking an illegal hold down will be removed by the LCA and placed back to their board in their original position prior to taking the hold down. No exceptions.

Repeated violations of these rules will result in the individual being suspended from using the SSSM system as follows:

First offense – 30-day suspension
Second offense- six-month suspension
Third offense – one year suspension
