Concerns regarding the COVID-19

As all of you are aware of the growing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, our local and national government officials have outlined steps to assist us in this time of uncertainty.  Please be mindful of these steps as we go to work with our brothers and sisters.

  •  Clean your workstation before and after each shift (It's been mentioned that local management does have Clorox wipes, just ask).

  •  Do not shake each other’s hands.

  •  Cover your mouth when sneezing and coughing.

  •  If you are feeling ill, please do not go to work. (Read the outlined procedures in MyUP or ask union officers).

The railroads haven't outlined any steps on how they will contain or help us remedy the issues that surround COVID-19. We as brothers and sisters need to stay united, stay safe, and stay healthy.

Our international and national leaders have outlined their concerns on the COVID-19 pandemic and outlined how we will move forward with Union business.  The upcoming monthly meeting, scheduled for March 20th, will be cancelled and any future meetings will be on a month-by-month basis.

  • Divisions may cancel their monthly membership meetings, on a month-by-month basis.  If a meeting is canceled, divisions should utilize their email distribution list to advise members of the non-confidential information that would normally be provided during the meeting being cancelled  This could include short reports from the officers about their activities and the non-confidential business of the division since the last meeting.  Members who are interested in more detailed information or the division's financial reports should be permitted to make appointments to review documents at a place and time convenient to the division's secretary-treasurer.

Fraternally yours,
Edward Strom
Division 28 President
