LC COVID-19 Update

This is a follow up to the information that I sent out in my Local Chairman’s report regarding COVID-19.

Continue utilizing the safety hotline to report any issues with bleach bottles being unavailable in the crew rooms, on the locomotives, or no crew packs. Bleach bottles were put in the Tucson crew room this morning, and I have been told that the contracted cleaning crew will be on site every day.

The carrier has instituted a one van, one crew model. They have spoken with the van vendors to ensure that cleaning protocols are being followed. They are adjusting van orders and addressing any noncompliance. If at the AFHT, please do not wait until the last minute to request a ride to the yard office. At least a 30-minute lead time is recommended. The AFHT van drivers should be disinfecting the vans after delivering each crew. EVPO Tom Lischer has stated, “do NOT get into any vehicles that haven’t been cleaned, and to report the situation to local management”.

The carrier has contacted the AFHT lodging facilities to verify that they are following CDC cleaning protocol. They are also verifying availability and food options.

Continue to use the quick tie-up option if desired.

Please check the UPRR COVID-19 information link on the website as they will update it daily.

I hope that you and your families remain healthy. Thank you for your time and attention.

Fraternally,
 Ken Walker
